Speaker A:It stars Dwayne Johnson, Sean Williams, Scott Christopher Walken, Rosario Donson, Ewan Bremner, John Grease, William lucking, Ernie Reyes Jr. Stuart Wilson, Dennis Keer and Stephen Bishop.
Speaker A:It's about a tough aspiring chef who's hired to bring home a mobster son from the Amazon who becomes involved in the fight against an oppressive town operator in the search for a legendary treasure.
Speaker A:If, if nothing else, that, that synopsis tells you nothing, they tried to fit way too much into this movie for like an hour, 35 minute run time.
Speaker A:Yeah, the rundown.
Speaker B:All right, JJ, your pick.
Speaker A:Listen, this movie is.
Speaker A:Could have gone in Hidden gems, guilty pleasures.
Speaker A:There's a number of.
Speaker A:Maybe it's all of the above.
Speaker A:But I don't know why I like this movie so much.
Speaker A:I really don't.
Speaker A:And every time I watch it I go, why do I love this movie so much?
Speaker A:And then I'll laugh and have a great time.
Speaker A:And I go, that's why.
Speaker A:But at the end of the day, as we've said a couple times in this month old podcast, it's objectively not a great movie.
Speaker A:But entertainment wise, like it's, it's hilarious, there's great banter, it's ridiculous, but it never tries to be anything but ridiculous.
Speaker A:Like it.
Speaker A:And I, part of it, I'm sure comes from the fact that it was, it was the first, it was like either the first or second branch out of WWE Studios.
Speaker A:Like they had their series, they still think they, you did it up to a certain point, but they were making movies.
Speaker A:And a lot of our, some of our, I don't know a lot, but some of our action stars that we've got came from that.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker A:Like, I think the Rock by this point had gotten to a couple of movies, but nothing major.
Speaker A:Like this was his first starring role, if you will, I think.
Speaker A:But Dave Bautista and John Cena, all those guys that are now considered actors more than they are wrestlers, I believe all of them got their start with WWE Studios, but I think this was their first crack at a major motion picture and you can tell it was made by that, like over the top.
Speaker A:But the other thing is it's pure entertainment, right?
Speaker A:Like they, I mean it's in the title of their company, Worldwide Entertainment or World Wrestling Entertainment.
Speaker A:It's, it's like they know what their lane is and they go with it and they don't give a what you think.
Speaker A:And I'm, and I'm, I respect that because this movie doesn't Try to be some award winning thing.
Speaker A:It's just a money grab and it's.
Speaker A:Let's put a bunch of people that we know that'll attract people, then let's have a good time.
Speaker A:And I do.
Speaker A:Every time.
Speaker A:No matter how ridiculous this movie is because of moments, it's really ridiculous.
Speaker A:It's still a lot of fun.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And I think Alex Frozen, which is fun.
Speaker A:There he is.
Speaker B:It's gonna be one of those days.
Speaker A:It's gonna be one of those recordings.
Speaker A:But yeah, like, so it's just pure entertainment at its best with no frills and no deep thought.
Speaker A:It's just carnage and humor and.
Speaker A:And I get a kick out of it.
Speaker B:Excellent.
Speaker B:So I didn't know that this was WWE Studios.
Speaker B:Oh, makes sense.
Speaker B:Because while I was watching this, like, 95 of this movie, I love.
Speaker B:But while I was watching it, I was like, why aren't they leaning into the obvious?
Speaker B:This is Sean William Scott's mov.
Speaker B:And now it makes sense.
Speaker B:It's not that it was forced to be the Rocks.
Speaker A:Yep.
Speaker B:But I was sitting there, you know, watching.
Speaker B:I was like, oh, the Rock has done.
Speaker B:Or like, you know, the Rock's main thing is just jungle movies.
Speaker B:Like the main thing the Rock has done throughout his entire career.
Speaker B:It's funny, but I was thinking, I was like, what would have been like if you take Kevin Hart out of Jumanji and put Sean Williams Scott in because he owned this movie.
Speaker A:True.
Speaker B:For the entire working way up until Rosario Dawson shows up and then he gets relegated to, like, barely side character.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:And I was sitting there going, why?
Speaker B:Because his whole banter with the Rock was gold.
Speaker B:And I was sitting there while I was watching, like, oh, I get the hidden gems.
Speaker B:It's right here.
Speaker B:And then it just hard pivot left.
Speaker B:And you had a couple moments that made me just cackle.
Speaker B:But for the most part, he just kind of got further and further away from it.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:And I was sitting there going, man, you know, because they're both typecast, right?
Speaker A:Sure.
Speaker B:The Rock is always the Rock and everything he's in, he's just Rock.
Speaker B:And then Sean William Scott's always Stifler.
Speaker B:Like, there's.
Speaker B:There's no way around it.
Speaker B:And so you had such great chemistry with them going back and forth and the move.
Speaker B:And the next thing you're going to do is you're going to want to take a break and.
Speaker B:What do you mean, no breaks?
Speaker B:I'm kind of tired.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:No brakes.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:So you have this great chemistry going back and Forth.
Speaker B:And then you lose that.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:And it's like a light switch of a loss.
Speaker B:And then you have the real shitty fight scene at the end, which I was laughing mostly, dude.
Speaker B:I was like, this is so bad.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:It's crazy town, right?
Speaker B:But I.
Speaker B:So that was the biggest thing that I had with it because the rest of.
Speaker B:I was cackling for a good portion.
Speaker B:Like, I. I'm sure we're gonna talk in depth about this because it was my favorite part.
Speaker B:But when they're getting over, like, being paralyzed.
Speaker A:Oh, they're just.
Speaker B:I hate monkeys.
Speaker B:And I'm in concrete.
Speaker B:Want to go home and homemade tortellini.
Speaker B:And I was just dying because there's no.
Speaker B:There's.
Speaker B:There was no way that I would have kept a straight face if I was in this scene, doing anything around this scene or within, like 12 square miles.
Speaker A:Oh, yeah.
Speaker B:No chance.
Speaker A:No chance.
Speaker B:He's just so, so perfect.
Speaker B:And I would have enjoyed far more moments of that rather than, like you kind of said doing as much as they did in an hour and 35 minutes.
Speaker B:Because there was a lot happening.
Speaker B:This is.
Speaker B:This is that water.
Speaker B:Skeeter.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:And it was.
Speaker B:It was.
Speaker B:It was something.
Speaker B:But there was.
Speaker B:There was parts this I really enjoyed.
Speaker B:And it was when they were just going after each other.
Speaker A:Oh, yeah.
Speaker B:Was hilarious.
Speaker A:Absolutely.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:No, I.
Speaker A:Every time.
Speaker A:That's a.
Speaker A:He's a. I'm tired of penis infesting,.
Speaker B:Penis eating minnows.
Speaker A:Yeah, minnows.
Speaker A:I miss my concrete and my LA Raider.
Speaker A:Whatever.
Speaker A:Los Angeles Lakers.
Speaker B:Just homemade tortellini.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And all that Sean Williams got stealing the whole time is Go away monkey.
Speaker A:Just over.
Speaker A:Go away, monkey.
Speaker B:Like, that is just.
Speaker B:That is up there with one of the funniest scenes I've ever watched in a movie.
Speaker A:Oh, yeah.
Speaker B:And I was full on belly laughing out loud because it was just so good.
Speaker B:But the problem is that it's like after that, you lose their real chemistry until the very, very end.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:And it's like you guys had it.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker A:You had to have the.
Speaker A:They had to throw in this big over the top action sequence.
Speaker A:As if you didn't have enough of those in this movie as it is.
Speaker A:But because, I mean, it starts out with a pretty outrageous action, but it's cool.
Speaker A:Like, I love the way they do, like, the silly.
Speaker A: t the time, back in the early: Speaker A:And then he just beats the ever loving out of all of them and, like, throws the dj.
Speaker A:Those things are heavy as.
Speaker A:And he just hucks it like it's Frisbee.
Speaker A:So it's.
Speaker A:And I knew.
Speaker A:But what I love about that opening sequence is the fact that it sets the tone for the rest.
Speaker A:Like, you know, you're watching ridiculousness incarnate but hilarious at the same time.
Speaker A:Like the conversation.
Speaker A:And here's the funny part.
Speaker A:So there's these action moments.
Speaker A:But to me, the funnier part, the funny parts of this movie are the quiet scenes in between the action sequences.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker A:So you have him in the bathroom wiping the cleaning off the alcohol.
Speaker A:And he's talking to Billy, and he's like.
Speaker A:But they have a legitimate shot of repeating next year.
Speaker A:Like.
Speaker A:Like, he's not worried about going out and fighting six linemen.
Speaker A:He's worried about ruining their chances to repeat in the Super Bowl.
Speaker A:And I'm like, this is fantastic.
Speaker A:So it just.
Speaker A:And then, like I said, it sets the tone.
Speaker A:And then you go down into Brazil and you're like, what in the actual Is happening?
Speaker A:Don't even get me started on Christopher Walken, who's like.
Speaker A:To me, every time he.
Speaker A:But he does this in every movie he's in.
Speaker A:But, like, I don't know how you got some of these people to play these parts.
Speaker A:But, like, Christopher Walken stole this movie for me every time he was on it.
Speaker A:Like, see, you don't stick your hand in another man's refrigerator.
Speaker A:Like, just the.
Speaker A:It's beautiful.
Speaker A:You stuck your hand in the wrong refrigerator, Mr. Beck.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's just.
Speaker A:They stole my tooth.
Speaker B:You know what the tooth fairy is?
Speaker B:Explain the cause.
Speaker A:Hold on, hold on.
Speaker A:They took my goddamn tooth.
Speaker A:Or she takes the tooth and gives you a quarter.
Speaker A:They took my tooth.
Speaker A:Give me my tooth.
Speaker A:It's like.
Speaker A:And you know, that wasn't scripted.
Speaker A:There's no way.
Speaker A:That man had to have just been, like, riffing the whole time.
Speaker A:It was beautiful.
Speaker A:And so I just love.
Speaker A:And then there's just moments that you're like, this was actually really entertaining and that's funny.
Speaker A:Or, that was brilliant writing.
Speaker A:And then the next moment, you're like,.
Speaker B:Did he just go through that concrete pillar?
Speaker A:Did they just have World War 3 in the Brazilian jungle?
Speaker A:And he came away with the scratch on his face.
Speaker A:That's it.
Speaker A:Like, get the out of here.
Speaker A:But it's.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So there's moments of ridiculousness, and then there's moments of just.
Speaker A:You're like, wow, okay.
Speaker A:Somebody actually thought that scene through.
Speaker A:But like, there's some really.
Speaker A:Like, I always think of the scene with Ernie Reyes Jr.
Speaker A:Which is like.
Speaker A:Was a flashback to me when I was a kid because I. I will talk about that different time, but like watching him do all his martial arts, like.
Speaker A:Because then seen him in years up to this point, outside of like being in a suit or like doing martial arts, then you didn't know it was him.
Speaker A:But then watching him in the.
Speaker A:That.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:That fight where they're throwing people around and like hitting people with burning sticks and I'm like, it's so unrealistic.
Speaker A:But it's entertaining as.
Speaker A:But then you go to that campfire scene where he's like talking about Mike Tyson and I was like, that's a really great scene.
Speaker A:And then it gets weird again, but you're just like, it's insane.
Speaker A:The movie's all over the place.
Speaker B:Well, it's.
Speaker B:It's weird because the action scenes as, you know, unrealistic as they are, they.
Speaker B:They follow this, you know, like, rule of cool type thing.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:If you're.
Speaker B:And I have this thing as well with like people who are always griping about super historical movies because I love a good historical movie.
Speaker B:But you can break with history as far as I'm concerned.
Speaker B:As long as it's cool.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:Like, if you make it really cool, you can do whatever the you want.
Speaker A:Sure.
Speaker B:And so this, this movie follows that where.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Do I think they're going to be tossing the rock like he's a beanbag back and forth?
Speaker B:No, but it was cool.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:And so there's.
Speaker B:There's those parts that are just like, really make this movie something.
Speaker B:Like you said, really super entertaining to watch.
Speaker B:And then.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Those deep conversations where they're going back and forth and having these real kind of cool moments are great for whatever reason they don't work together.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker A:It gives you whiplash.
Speaker B:It.
Speaker B:It wasn't even.
Speaker B:I don't know if it's even so much as whiplash.
Speaker B:It's just.
Speaker B:You're left kind.
Speaker B:Maybe it was the pacing overall story because you're going so quick so fast and it's just.
Speaker B:It just feels a little bit weird.
Speaker B:But I was like watching this.
Speaker B:I can see a lot of inspiration being pulled for the Jumanji Series 1, but also like Uncharted, that came out a couple years ago and all these other.
Speaker B:We've had quite a few Jungle, Lost Treasure, hidden city type movies.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:And they, you know, they.
Speaker B:There's a lot.
Speaker B:I'm looking like, I seen that before, like, going through it.
Speaker B:So that was.
Speaker B:That was cool.
Speaker B:But it's just something about this just was like.
Speaker B:I don't know how to put my finger on it.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:But I was sitting there going, like, this is like 95% was like so good.
Speaker B:I would have loved this.
Speaker B:But there's just something weird that they decided to do.
Speaker B:And it shifted it just enough that I was left going, why did JJ put this on the list?
Speaker B:It was his gato you found or something.
Speaker A:I can't explain it.
Speaker A:And I do.
Speaker A:Like, it's one of these movies that like, pops up and I'm like, I'm gonna watch this.
Speaker A:Because it's an hour and a half, which you, if you haven't noticed, like, I haven't.
Speaker A:I don't think I put a movie on this list that was more than an hour and 40 minutes.
Speaker A:And so it's like, I love.
Speaker A:I.
Speaker A:The pacing is wrong.
Speaker A:Like, it's too fast.
Speaker A:There's no real story.
Speaker A:But I think it's just when the action is on.
Speaker A:Like, even when they're falling down the mountain, when Sean Scott drives, you're like, they're dead six times over.
Speaker A:But God damn it, that's funny.
Speaker A:Watching them bounce and the noises are making, hitting the trees.
Speaker A:I'm like, oh, Ah.
Speaker A:God.
Speaker A:And I just find myself going, I don't care.
Speaker A:Yeah, funny as.
Speaker A:And this is fun, so I just don't care.
Speaker A:But yeah, like, if you look at it from like an actual lens of critique, it's horrid.
Speaker A:It's terrible.
Speaker A:Like, most of it's terrible.
Speaker A:But when you're looking at it from like, okay, they set out to make an entertaining film.
Speaker A:It's really good.
Speaker A:And I can't help myself, even down to the point that I think the part that bothers me the most is in the final fight where you have this build up of no guns, no guns, no guns.
Speaker A:And then.
Speaker A:But like, there's always this hint of.
Speaker A:And then that conversation.
Speaker A:He's like, bad things happen when I have guns.
Speaker A:I'm like, okay, so that means he knows how to use these guns.
Speaker A:They're not hiding from it.
Speaker A:And what's this dude do?
Speaker A:There's AK47s and laying around everywhere.
Speaker A:And this guy grabs shotguns.
Speaker A:I'm like, they're on the roof, dude.
Speaker A:Like, I don't care if you've even got slug shotguns.
Speaker A:You're not Billy Bob Sniper with a goddamn 12 gauge.
Speaker A:One hand in this, like, double Fisting and finding all the most unique stupid ass ways to rack these and then shooting them from a distance.
Speaker A:I'm like, get out of here with this.
Speaker A:And that bothers.
Speaker A:And I'm like, I always made fun of Javier because he was always like, they didn't reload or how many bullets you got in that freaking.
Speaker A:That magazine.
Speaker A:And I'm like, stop it.
Speaker A:But this one, no matter what, has always bothered me because like, that's one thing that pisses me off is when there's this gunfight and someone's more than 10ft away and they're using a shotgun to go.
Speaker A:I'm like, no, that's not how shotguns work.
Speaker A:If they're that far away, like, is it going to hurt?
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:It's not going to feel good, but it's not going to do damage to the point that they're falling off a roof and dying or.
Speaker A:You know what I mean?
Speaker A:Like, that's not how this works.
Speaker A:So that one bothers me way more than it should that I'm like, okay, if you know your guns and you're afraid of them, then why aren't you grabbing the friggin rifles that are laying around you?
Speaker A:Or you know what I mean?
Speaker A:And then the very end, like where he twice Christopher Walken gets the gunshot out of his hand, I'm like, stop it.
Speaker A:Did he just.
Speaker A:No scope a freaking.45 Christopher Walken's hand from six feet away off.
Speaker A:So there are parts that I'm like, okay, that bothers me.
Speaker A:But the rest of it, I'm like, I'm okay with it.
Speaker A:It's so funny.
Speaker A:Like you said in the fight where they're busting up the rock, the.
Speaker A:And the one guy slides into him and he goes up in the air like, yeah, like 40, like, no way.
Speaker A:But it is bitching when they swing and grab his legs and throw him in the air.
Speaker A:Not that they could, but that shit is funny.
Speaker A:I'm like, oh my God.
Speaker B:Yeah, I was cracking up I think mostly at that fight because of the lead up to it.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker B:Because the lead up is Sean William Scott setting this whole thing up.
Speaker B:Like just.
Speaker B:Yeah, back and forth and it's, it's hilarious.
Speaker B:So then we, when you get to them dive bombing out of the trees, it's just funny.
Speaker B:And at the beginning of the fight he's also supplying a little bit of commentary.
Speaker B:Back and forth.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker B:Which just adds to it.
Speaker B:You don't really get that in the final fight because he's pinned down in a bus.
Speaker A:True.
Speaker B:And so it's.
Speaker B:It's once, I think, put my finger on it, it's what they did with Sean William Scott's character.
Speaker B:And I don't know if they were thinking, like, oh, shoot, he's.
Speaker B:He's too good at this.
Speaker B:Like, put him in the back seat, because this is the rocks movie.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:Or something along that lines.
Speaker B:Or if they just decided to go a different direction overall with the story.
Speaker B:But the.
Speaker B:The first 20 minutes that we see Sean William Scott on here is pure gold.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:And then he just gets less and less screen time worse and worse off.
Speaker B:It's like, are you kidding me?
Speaker B:I. I would have liked it a lot if you had Sean William Scott come out playing the bagpipes.
Speaker B:Because there's no reason for him to play the bagpipes.
Speaker B:But it fits.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker B:Like, it's.
Speaker B:It.
Speaker B:That would be hilarious.
Speaker B:And have him provide commentary on the sidelines.
Speaker B:Just have the Rocco solo in the fight.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:Because he's been fighting solo the entire movie anyway.
Speaker B:It's been him against everybody else.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:You know, I didn't get my option A or option B before the fight started.
Speaker B:And I was looking forward to that because that.
Speaker B:That running gag actually made me chuckle.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Because it's, you know, option A.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:And then option B is pretty much the same, except it hurts more.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:I mean, they kind of did it through the tv, but it wasn't as good as when he does it face to face.

Speaker B:The real problem I had with the final fight was the freaking whips.

Speaker B:I was just like, this was kind of dumb for, like, I get it.
Speaker B:You're not gonna try and, you know, have, you know, Timu Goons take on the rock.
Speaker B:But at the same time, that's what we come for when we want to see rock fight is just him beating up on goons.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:So it's like, I don't.
Speaker B:I don't need that added thing where, oh, no, the Rock might lose.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:Because I know it's not gonna happen.
Speaker B:Sure.
Speaker B:Just have him go in there and boom, boom, boom.
Speaker B:Three punches.
Speaker B:Like that would have been better, in my opinion.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:Than bringing out this entirely long, super accurate whips for, you know, your cut rate mining mind guards.
Speaker A:But yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:That.
Speaker B:That was.
Speaker B:That was my big problem with the final fight.
Speaker B:I was like, really?
Speaker B:Really?
Speaker A:That.
Speaker B:That's your A squad.
Speaker B:You're braiding Out.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker A:Somebody in that frigate was like, you know what would be cool is if we had guys that could slice your fingers open with a whip so that you drop the gold.
Speaker A:And then you got three of them, and they're coming after him.
Speaker A:And I'm like, no, you went too far there.
Speaker A:Went too far there.
Speaker A:And especially three.
Speaker A:Okay, fine, you want to bring whip boy back after he gets away in the bar?
Speaker A:Yeah, but three of them?
Speaker A:Come on.
Speaker A:They'd slice and dice his ass.
Speaker A:Like.
Speaker A:And that's if they're not getting in each other's way the whole time.
Speaker A:Like, that's the other part anyway.
Speaker A:Yeah, I'm with you.
Speaker A:The whips are kind of ridiculous, but kind of cool.
Speaker A:I mean, fine, but they're kind of ridiculous then.
Speaker B:I like what you said.
Speaker B:Use one guy, and that's.
Speaker B:That's the guy.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:And so then you could have.
Speaker B:Same thing with the Reyes Jr.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker A:Oh, yeah.
Speaker B:You could have him showcase his, you know, stuff, and then that.
Speaker B:That would be funny or cool.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:But it's like, okay, so you're just gonna sit around the corner, Like.
Speaker B:And so that was my biggest thing.
Speaker B:But, I mean, for most this movie, I was.
Speaker B:I was cackling because I was like, oh, my gosh.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:It's the Rock and Stifler.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:I will say, though, I love the gag, the running gag with the Scottish dude, where they don't know what the.
Speaker A:He's saying half the time that the bulls on the Runway or whatever on the landing.
Speaker A:I'm like, what?
Speaker A:And then he just called, you know, and then the joke, when Sean William Scott finally can flip it back on him, and he's like, you do not speak English.
Speaker A:Yeah, don't you speak English?
Speaker A:In Portuguese.
Speaker A:Don't you speak English?
Speaker A:Laughs it's fantastic.
Speaker B:So it's so off the cuff, too, where there's no beat or, you know, here comes the joke type of a thing.
Speaker B:It's just.
Speaker B:Yeah, say it and turn around.
Speaker B:And I. I know.
Speaker B:I'm ignoring you now.
Speaker A:Yeah, no, it's great.
Speaker A:And the lightning and thunder thing about kills me every time, too.
Speaker A:Like, what?
Speaker A:He's.
Speaker A:Lightning.
Speaker A:A little thunder.
Speaker B:Lightning.
Speaker A:Thunder.
Speaker B:I. I like that he got it to work in the.
Speaker B:When he was.
Speaker A:Yeah, when he's fighting the one dude.

Speaker B:But it was.
Speaker B:Because it was funny.
Speaker B:Like, when he's going against the rock and just Thunder.
Speaker B:Lightning bow.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's good.
Speaker B:But he finally got it.
Speaker B:He finally got it to work.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:I don't know how they got Rosario Dawson and Christopher Walken and even.
Speaker A:I mean, the amount of people they got in this were just insane.
Speaker A:Like, they had to have had some, like, favors to call in or something because.
Speaker A:God bless, dude, these are.
Speaker A:And I guess at the time, like, WWE is huge.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:And the Rock was like, starting to, like, he had just done something.
Speaker A:I think that it was a decently big movie.
Speaker B:Scorpion King probably.
Speaker A:And so maybe.
Speaker A:But yeah, it just was like, what is happening right now?
Speaker A:But it's.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Again, it's stupidly entertaining to watch it and that.
Speaker A:Well, and then didn't they have like.
Speaker A:Yeah, Arnold Schwarzenegger has his little, like, Pat trying to pass the torch moment at the very beginning when he's walking out of the bar.
Speaker A:Good luck.
Speaker A:It's like that didn't pan out.
Speaker A:No, the Rock actually moved on to be more of like a rom kids comedy type for the most part.
Speaker A:But anyway, interesting movie.
Speaker A:Should we rate it?
Speaker B:Let's do it.
Speaker B:You're up first.
Speaker A:Listen, I'm not stupid.
Speaker A:All of the reason this is a hidden gem for me is because there's nostalgia and I just find it mindlessly entertaining to the point that I love it.
Speaker A:So I'm going to give it a three and a half.
Speaker A:I want to give it more higher, because I do.
Speaker A:I could watch this anytime, just about, because it's short.
Speaker A:It's to the point, like, there's no real motivation to watch this other than to have a good time.
Speaker A:Like, you can skip the plot for the most part.
Speaker A:Even, like the serious.
Speaker A:The few serious moments that they do and that it works.
Speaker A:You don't need it.
Speaker A:Like, it adds no real value to the movie.
Speaker A:The value is the goofy humor and the violence.
Speaker A:That's it.
Speaker A:Like, so if, when I go into it, I could watch anytime because I find so many parts funny and then I find so many action sequences cool enough that I'm.
Speaker A:I'm intrigued by watching them and I'm entertained.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:But from a perspective of a movie, it's not a great movie.
Speaker A:Like, if you're looking to go in and be, like, entered, like, you want to be all hoity toity and, you know, rank this movie up against other great films that are made.
Speaker A:No, it's not.
Speaker A:It's not that.
Speaker A:This is pure, raw, goofy, mindless entertainment and go into it with that and it's fun.
Speaker A:So three and a half for me.
Speaker A:I'll absolutely watch this movie again whenever I need just something in the background or if, like, I just want to sit down and not think through something and I just want to be entertained.
Speaker A:This is one of my go tos for that because it's just.
Speaker A:It's funny as.
Speaker A:So there you go.
Speaker A:What about you, buddy?
Speaker B:I'm g. Give it a three.
Speaker B:I think it's.
Speaker B:I think it's better than just being a middle of the road movie because full on belly laugh.
Speaker B:And the first.
Speaker B:I'll say the first half is gold.
Speaker B:Absolute gold.
Speaker B:And I think it just gets worse over time.
Speaker B:And so it's.
Speaker B:It's like it's something that I would have no problem really watching Eclipse or watching like the first portion of it because I can see myself revisiting go away monkey.
Speaker B:Go away monkey.
Speaker B:Like, all the time.
Speaker B:Because it is just so funny.
Speaker B:And then you throw in the translating to Portuguese, you know, like, oh, yeah, he says that you suck.
Speaker B:You're small and you make a really good bride.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:So good.
Speaker B:Like, it's just.
Speaker B:It's just pure comedy gold.
Speaker B:And so I'll revisit it for that or I'll revisit those pieces of it.
Speaker B:Yeah, it filters off me.
Speaker B:And it's only really because you add Rosario.
Speaker B:Rosario Dawson, who does a great job.
Speaker B:But having her in there means you have to move Shauna Leam Scott out.
Speaker B:And for me, he's the one who made this movie.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:And so I'll give it a three.
Speaker B:I'll probably watch it again.
Speaker B:Like, I'm not gonna ever say no.
Speaker B:I'm not watching this ever again.
Speaker B:But yeah, it was three.
Speaker B:It was.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:It's tricky, like a lot of movies this month because it just shouldn't make any sense.
Speaker B:And most of it as a cohesive hole.
Speaker A:It doesn't.
Speaker B:But the parts in it are so good.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:So it's weird, but yeah, I'll give it a three.
